Zahra Dental Clinic QF: Top Four Into Semis In Tehran

The quarter finals of the Zahra Dental Clinic saw the top four seeds all take victories, but it wasn’t as simple as it sounds, with top seed Alireza Shameli having to survive a comeback to advance to the last four.

He took on Soheil Shameli for a place in the semi-finals, and found himself two games to the good after winning the second on a tie-break, 14-12. However, the tournament’s No.5 seed fought back to level the contest and send it into a deciding game. It would eventually be the top seed who would get over the line, winning in five, to move through to the last four.

He will now face No.3 seed Sepehr Etemadpoor for the second time in four days, after the pair met in the final of the Commemoration Of The Martyrs Of The Iranian Navy Army on Friday. Etemadpoor came through his quarter final contest in four, defeating the unseeded Pouya Shafii Fard 3-1.

The other last four clash will see No.2 seed Mohammad Kashani and No.4 seed Sami Ghasedabadi do battle for a place in the final of the Challenger 3 level competition, after the pair both won their respective quarter final matches in straight games.

The semi-finals of the Zahra Dental Clinic will take place on Tuesday, March 8, with the top four seeds battling out for places in Wednesday’s finals.
