MST Dubai Series II: Ramachandran Doubles Up In December

After winning the first event in Dubai earlier this month, India’s Sandeep Ramachandran has doubled up in December, claiming the MST Dubai Squash Series II this weekend.

The Indian secured his maiden Tour title at the MST Dubai Squash Series I at the Aviation Club at the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel last week, and he came into this week’s tournament as the top seed once again.

He started off with a comprehensive 11-minute win over Sampuran Banerjee in the opening round, before then defeating No.8 seed, Zeineldin Shams, in straight games to make it through to the last four.

In the semis, Ramachandran got the better of No.5 seed Muhammad Jehangir Khan after just 26 minutes to book his place in another final, where he came up against the event’s No.2 seed, Egypt’s Abdelaziz Hegazy.

It was not quite as comfortable as his previous matches in the tournament, but Ramachandran came through the final in straight games as well to end the event without dropping a single game. He claimed his second title on Tour, and his second of the month as well.
