Sutton Coldfield International: Tournament Preview

The Aston and Fincher Sutton Coldfield International is one of two events taking place on the Challenger Tour this week, with the Challenger 5 level men’s and women’s tournament beginning on Tuesday 23 November.

Sutton Coldfield Squash Club plays host to the event, with the tournament being run for the sixth time in its history, after missing last year’s spot on the Tour calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

England’s Ben Coleman will be the top seed for the men’s draw, and the highest ranked player in the field. The World No.67 will be joined by compatriots Sam Todd and Joe Lee, along with Scotland’s Rory Stewart, as the top four seeds.

The Kiwi duo of Temwa Chileshe and Joel Arscott, Poland’s Filip Jarota, Scotland’s Fergus Richards and the Welsh trio of Elliott Morris Devred, Peter Creed and Owain Taylor are part of a mainly English field in Sutton Coldfield this week.

Alicia Mead will be the top seed for the women’s tournament, with Egypt’s Nadeen Kotb, one of the newest members of the world’s top 100, as her nearest competitor for the crown.

Anther Egyptian, in Rana Ismail, and New Zealand’s Kaitlyn Watts, who will participate on Tour for the first time outside of either Australia or New Zealand, will also be among the top eight seeds, with the English quartet of Torrie Malik, Kace Bartley, Saran Nghiem and Katie Wells.
