Challenger Tour Weekly Preview: Action From England and France

There are just two events on the Challenger Tour this week, with both Challenger 5 level tournaments being held in Europe, with action coming from England and France over the next seven days.

The action gets underway on Tuesday 23 November with the Aston and Fincher Sutton Coldfield International, which will feature both a men’s and women’s draw, before the men’s Open de Cognac begins on Wednesday 24 November.

Here is what is coming up on the Challenger Tour this week.

Aston and Fincher Sutton Coldfield International
The first tournament of the week on the Challenger Tour will be the Challenger 5 level Aston and Fincher Sutton Coldfield International, which will have both men’s and women’s draws in action at the Sutton Coldfield Squash Club this week.

The event, which gets underway on Tuesday 23 November, will feature six top 100 ranked players, four of which are in the men’s draw. The English trio of Ben Coleman, Sam Todd and Joe Lee are joined by Scotland’s Rory Stewart as the top four seeds.

England’s Alicia Mead and Egypt’s Nadeen Kotb will be the two members of the world’s top 100 in action in the women’s draw, while New Zealand’s Kaitlyn Watts will be featuring on Tour for the first time outside of either Australia or New Zealand this week.

Open de Cognac
The Open de Cognac is the second event on Tour this week, with action getting underway on Wednesday 24 November at Squash La Belle Allee in Cognac, France.

The Challenger 5 level event will run for five days, and will see Egypt’s Yahya Elnawasany as the top seed, with Englishman Nick Wall, Spain’s Ivan Perez and the Indian duo of Abhishek Agarwal and Aadit Zaveri as his nearest challengers.
