Englishman James Earles earned his second PSA World Tour title in three weeks when he defeated fellow countryman Chris Fuller in the final of the LOC Charing Cross Classic, the inaugural PSA Challenger 5 squash event at Charing Cross Sports Club in London, England.

Seeded six, Earles ousted fifth seed Mark Fuller in the semi-finals in straight games to reach the second Tour final of his career.

In the other semi, Mark’s younger brother Chris stopped George Parker, the unseeded 18-year-old who produced the shock of the tournament when he defeated top seed Charles Sharpes.

Third seed Fuller established a 2/1 lead over Earles (pictured above, left, with tournament promoter Ben Ford) in the final – but the 21-year-old from Hull reclaimed the advantage to close out the match 11-7, 9-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-6 in 79 minutes to win the title against expectation.

“I’m really pleased to have won my second PSA title and especially with it being my second final as well,” said Earles. “My game over the last three days got better each day so I was pleased to have played well today and get the win.

“Happy that all my hard work over the last few years is finally paying off and that I am showing to my sponsors and coaches that the hard work and confidence in me is finally paying off – I’m over the moon to be finally giving them something back.

“I’m hoping that this win will give me the confidence I need to take in to Bratislava next week and do the same again,” concluded Earles, currently ranked 127 in the world.
