Elan Vital Open: Bonmalais Successful In Monchegladbach

Frenchman Sebastien Bonmalais has claimed the title at the Elan Vital Open in Monchengladbach, Germany, after defeating Yannik Omlor in the final.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Challenger 5 level tournament was ran with regional restrictions, allowing those currently based in Europe to play in the event.

Bonmalais came into the tournament as the top seed, and came through his four matches completely unscathed, without dropping a game, and spending just over two hours on court in total.

The Frenchman started off his winning run against Switzerland’s David Bernet, before then beating No.6 seed Marek Panacek, also in straight games.

Bonmalais, the World No.59, then downed No.5 seed Cedric Kuchen to make it into the final, where he came up against Germany’s Yannik Omlor. He needed just 39 minutes in the final to take victory, securing his second title of the year.
