Smash Basem Makram: Tournament Preview

The first of two events on the Challenger Tour to be held in Egypt this week is the Smash Basem Makram, which will take place at Smash Sporting Club in Cairo from Wednesday 14 to Saturday 17 July.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Challenger 3 level tournament is being run with only domestic entries allowed, meaning only those based in Egypt are able to play. Just one foreign player is in the draw, in Canada’s Karim Aguib.

Ali Yacout, the World No.360, will be the top seed for the tournament, with Abdelrahman Abdelkhalek, Mohamed Sayed El Boraie and Omar El Torkey among those who will also aim to challenge for the title.

The event takes place from Wednesday 14 to Saturday 17 at the Smash Sporting Club in Cairo. Follow the PSA Challenger Tour on Twitter and Facebook for daily updates from the event.
