Salzburg Open: Rehman Takes Third Win On Home Soil

6 June 2021

Four years after claiming the Austrian Open title for a second time, Aqeel Rehman is a winner on home soil again, after taking the Salzburg Open crown this weekend.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Challenger 5 level tournament was run with domestic only entries being allowed to participate.

The World No.89 was the top seed for the event and he came through with flying colours, winning all four of this matches without dropping a game en route to the title.

He started off with a victory over Kevin Schon, before victories against Stefan Moser and No.4 seed Georg Stoisser saw him reach the final. Rehman then face Jakob Dirnberger in the final, winning 3-0 in 31 minutes to secure the 11th title of his career.
