Fuller and Naughton Named PSA Challenger Tour Players of the Month

4 March 2020

England’s World No.88 Lyell Fuller and Canada’s World No.29 Hollie Naughton have been named the PSA Challenger Tour Players of the Month for February.

Naughton won the biggest title of her career at the Racquet Club Pro-Series, held in St Louis as she defeated home hope Olivia Fiechter in the final.

The Canadian had been forced to wait three years since her last title but made sure it was worth it as she claimed an 11-7, 11-6, 13-11 victory over the American in 28 minutes.

Naughton suffered a scare in the quarter finals as she was taken to five-game by Englishwoman Lily Taylor, before getting the better of Egypt’s Hana Ramadan to take her place in the final.

Meanwhile, Fuller stormed through the field at the Assante Wealth Management Carter Classic to beat unseeded Leandro Romiglio of Argentina in the final in Toronto, Canada.

The No.6 seed overcame Belgium’s Joeri Hapers and Italy’s Yuri Farneti in the first and second round, before taking out No.3 seed Mario Yanez in the semi-finals.

The win marked Fuller’s first PSA Tour title in over 18 months.

Other notable performances in February on the Challenger Tour came from Egypt’s Yahya Elnawasany and Sana Ibrahim, who lifted their first PSA titles at the CIB Egyptian Tour 4.

Jamaica’s Christopher Binnie also claimed his biggest PSA title at the Life Time Atlanta Open, while Ivan Yuen, Dimitri Steinmann, Vikram Malhotra and Daniel Mekbib also all enjoyed a successful month.
