Edinburgh Sports Club Open: Three Scots Advance To Second Round

The 20th edition of the Edinburgh Sports Club Open got under way yesterday with the winners progressing to play the seeds in Thursday’s second round of the Women’s PSA Challenger 20 event.

There was plenty of home interest with Scots involved in five of the eight matches, where there was success for Georgia Adderley, Katriona Allen and Elspeth Young.

Adderley, who turned 19 earlier this month, overcame clubmate Carrie Hallam in straight games while Allen and Young upset Charlotte Jagger and Fanny Segers to give Scotland five players in the second round. Adderley meets top seeded Englishwoman Emily Whitlock while Allen and Young meet fellow Scots Alison Thomson and Lisa Aitken, respectively.
