Weekend round-up: Fallows claims West of Ireland crown

England’s Richie Fallows followed in the footsteps of previous winners Ali Farag and Simon Rosner to take the Garavans West of Ireland title.

A packed house in Galway saw Fallows see off fellow Englishman Nathan Lake 3-0 in 35 minutes.

Lake, who took 83 minutes to beat France’s Sebastien Bonmalais in a marathon semi-final, struggled against a fresher Fallows as he went down 11-4, 11-5, 11-8.

In the British Virgin Islands, top seed Marina Stefanoni produced a stunning comeback to the the Harneys BVI Squash Open title with a 3-2 win over Colombia’s Laura Tovar.

The USA player trailed by two games with Tovar proving clinical in her attacks to open up an advantage.

However the World No83 came back strongly and began to finish off points confidently to seize the initiative and become the first ever winner of a female PSA Event in the British Virgin Islands.

Elsewhere, third seed Cameron Seth cruised to a straight-games win over Japan’s Ryosei Kobayashi in the final of the Solomon Markets City View Open.

There was also victory for top seed Auguste Dussourd of France who saw off the challenge of Argentina’s Robertino Pezzota to claim the Tour de Las Americas Colon PSA Squash Open.
