Order of play

Georgina Kennedy v Tesni Murphy

No.1 seed Georgina Kennedy faces a tough challenge in the first match of the day as she faces two-time British Nationals champion Tesni Murphy.

Kennedy reached the semi-finals after a strong showing against Katie Malliff, winning in straight games, while Murphy also looked in command of her quarter-final contest as she defeated Lucy Turmel in 40 minutes.

The pair have met before in the competition, in the 2021 semi-finals, with Kennedy winning in four games. So far in 2024 the Englishwoman and the Welshwoman have met four times, with Kennedy claiming victory on all occasions. The last time Murphy beat the World No.6 was in 2022, in the quarter-finals of the Manchester Open.

Mohamed ElShorbagy v Greg Lobban

Defending champion Mohamed ElShorbagy faces Scotland’s final representative in the competition: Greg Lobban.

The two-time champion defeated Patrick Rooney to reach the semi-finals, while Lobban battled past Curtis Malik to progress.

In the pair’s previous meetings, the former World No.1 has won on all four occasions, most recently in the second round of last year’s British Open.

Sarah-Jane Perry v Emily Whitlock

Wales’ Emily Whitlock won her quarter-final match-up with a shock win over defending champion Jasmine Hutton. Perry, a three-time winner of the British Nationals, defeated Scotland’s Georgia Adderley to reach the last four.

In their previous meetings, the Englishwoman has dominated, winning all 14 of the encounters, most recently in the 2023 Grasshopper Cup second round.

Marwan ElShorbagy v Joel Makin

Tournament debutant Marwan ElShorbagy faces off against 2021 Champion Joel Makin in the last match of a packed Saturday of squash.

Makin reached the penultimate stage of the competition with a near-perfect performance over Scotland’s Rory Stewart, and ElShorbagy overcame World No.50 Declan James.

In their previous encounters, the Englishman has won five of the nine occasions, but Makin won most recent clash at the London Classic.
