Nour El Tayeb Returns To Highest Ranking Since 2021 In Latest Women’s World Rankings

10 June 2024

Egypt’s Nour El Tayeb has risen to World No.4 in the latest PSA Women’s World Rankings, her best position since September 2021.

This rise comes off the back of her semi-final finish at the recent British Open. The 31-year-old impressively came back from 2-0 down against compatriot Salma Hany to reach the final four but lost out in four games to World No.1 Nour ElSherbini on Saturday in Birmingham but still recorded her best finish at a Platinum event this season. With just one more event to play for the Egyptian, El Tayeb has already claimed three World Tour wins this season and will be hoping that she can carry her form into the season ending World Tour Finals later this month.

Belgium’s Nele Gilis had occupied the World No.4 position for a large portion of 2024 so far but slipped to World No.6 a few weeks ago. She’s now risen a place to World No.5 sending USA’s Olivia Weaver and England’s Georgina Kennedy down the rankings to No.6 and No.7.

Other movers inside the top twenty include Japan’s Satomi Watanabe, who has moved back to her highest ranking of World No.14, overtaking USA’s Sabrina Sobhy. Egyptian duo Farida Mohamed and Nada Abbas have also risen a place in this week’s rankings, moving to World No.16 and 18, respectively.

The top eight players in the world have one tournament remaining as they will head to Bellevue, USA for the Xbox PSA World Tour Finals, which will take place from the 18-22 June.
