We’re asking squash fans to get involved in the voting for the annual PSA Awards – you can now vote on your 2023-24 PSA Moment of the Season.

Voting will close at 23:59 (GMT+1) on Monday June 3, with the winner announced at the PSA Awards dinner held at The Book Rotunda in Birmingham on Saturday June 8 following the semi-finals of the British Open.

Read below to see who the main contenders are, and cast your vote to help crown this year’s winners.

Sivasangari Subramaniam Wins in London

Sivasangari Subramaniam’s victory at the London Classic saw her claim one of the biggest upsets of the entire season and even resulted in praise from the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The 25-year-old came into the event at Alexandra Palace as the No.7 seed, but put together a series of unbelievable performances to capture the biggest title of her career.

First, she beat World No.1 Nour El Sherbini in a stunning quarter-final upset, before a thrilling five-game battle against Belgium’s No.4 seed Nele Gilis went the way of the Malaysian in the semi-finals.

Sivasangari backed up from that 94-minute fight with Gilis superbly as she overcame World No.3 Hania El Hammamy in an electric title decider to cap off the biggest week in her fledgling career.

Diego Elias Becomes First South American World Champion

Diego Elias made history in May when he became the first player from South America to get his hands on the biggest trophy in squash – the PSA World Championships.

Formerly a World Junior Champion and World No.1, the World Championships had failed to bring the best out of the Peruvian in recent years, but that all changed in Cairo.

Elias was at the top of his game from the moment he stepped onto court in round one against Abdulla Al-Tamimi, with further wins against Iker Pajares and Youssef Ibrahim following.

2016 World Champion Karim Abdel Gawad was then put to the sword in the last eight before he ended a six-match losing run against Ali Farag in the last four.

That win put him up against rival Mostafa Asal in the title decider. Against the backdrop of fervent home support for Asal, Elias put in a masterclass of a performance that saw him nullify the hard-hitting Egyptian to win the most prestigious trophy in squash.

Nouran Gohar Ends El Sherbini’s Run to Finally Win the World Champs

Unlike Elias, Gohar had often showcased her best squash at the World Championships but had always come up short against the brilliance of World No.1 Nour El Sherbini, losing in three successive finals.

But this year was different.

After battling past the likes of USA’s Sabrina Sobhy, former World No.3 Nour El Tayeb and current World No.3 Hania El Hammamy, Gohar found herself up against El Sherbini in the title decider once again, with the higher-ranked Egyptian looking to match the legendary Nicol David’s record of eight World Championship finals.

El Sherbini was boasting an impressive record of 35 matches unbeaten at the World Championships, but an incredible performance from Gohar saw her rally against the form book to secure an emotional win and fulfil a lifelong dream.
