Olivia Weaver Moves To Career-High World No.4 In Latest PSA Rankings

20 May 2024

After a strong showing in last week’s CIB PSA World Championships, USA’s Olivia Weaver has moved to her highest ranking to date of World No.4 in the latest standings. The American has been in good form all season and has cemented herself as a leading player in the world’s biggest events with the performances that she has produced. Weaver was a 5/8 seed heading into the World Champs but defeated Salma Hany and Fayrouz Aboelkheir to move into the final four, narrowly losing out to World No.1 Nour ElSherbini in five games.

Another player who is celebrating a ranking milestone today is Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam, who has broken into the top 10 for the first time in her career. Subramaniam captured her first World Tour title in December in Hong Kong and impressively claimed her second at the London Squash Classic where she scalped several top ranked players to lift the Gold event title and after a last 16 finish at the World Championships, Malaysia have a player back inside the top 10.

Egypt’s 18-year-old Fayrouz Aboelkheir overcame No.4 seed Nele Gilis last week in Cairo and has seen her ranking move up three places as she now sits at World No.16, her highest position to date. Big things are expected of the teenager but if she is to carry on producing the performances that she has this season, it won’t be long before the top 10 is in the Egyptian’s sights.
