Orfi Reaches Career-High No.11 Ranking

Egyptian 16-year-old sensation Amina Orfi has risen two places in this week’s PSA Women’s World Rankings to reach a career-high ranking of No.11.

New Ranking: No.11

Orfi is on the cusp of a place inside the world’s top 10 after reaching the last 16 at last week’s El Gouna International Squash Open.

She battled past fellow Egyptian Hana Moataz in a gruelling 87-minute battle and performed well to trouble eventual winner Nouran Gohar in round three, eventually falling to a 3-1 defeat.

Japan’s Satomi Watanabe returned to a career-high ranking of No.14 after she too reached round three in El Gouna.

Watanabe beat Hong Kong’s Tomato Ho in a comfortable second round victory before a narrow 3-2 defeat against Belgium’s Tinne Gilis in the last 16.

Wales’ Tesni Murphy returns to the top 20 for the first time since November 2023 courtesy of a last 32 finish in El Gouna.

A hard-fought first round win over Canada’s Nicole Bunyan saw her through to play Nele Gilis in round two, with the Belgian taking the win in straight games.

New Ranking: No.26

Malaysia’s Rachel Arnold moves up two places to No.26, which is her highest ranking since February of this year.

The 28-year-old won her opening round match with England’s Alicia Mead in El Gouna before falling to World No.1 Nour El Sherbini in the last 32.
