England’s Jonah Bryant Claims Biggest Title to Date in Calgary

England Junior Champion Jonah Bryant produced a terrific performance over in Calgary at the MRU Open as he claimed his biggest PSA title to date, beating No.2 seed Edwin Clain in the final.

Bryant reached the final by defeating compatriot Perry Malik in the semi-finals. The Warwickshire-based player lost the opening game 11-8 but responded in strong style to win the next three games, surrendering just seven points throughout the three games to take his place in the title decider. Clain also made his way through to the final in four games as he overcame Daniel Mekbib.

In an intense and hard-fought final, the Calgary crowd were treated to quality squash throughout the 66 minute contest. Clain captured a tight opening game 19-17 but bryant fought back to equalise, winning game two 11-6.

Another tiebreak followed in game three, but it was Bryant’s turn to held stronger to take a 2-1 lead, winning 14-12. The Englishman backed up the third game win with a confident performance in game four as he won 11-7 to win his biggest PSA title.
