Orfi & Hesham Heading In The Right Direction In Latest World Tour Finals Standings

19 February 2024

In the latest World Tour Finals Leaderboard standings, Egyptian duo Amina Orfi and Mazen Hesham have risen to their best positions as the season ending event draws nearer.

Orfi claimed her first World Tour title yesterday as she overcame top seed Tinne Gilis in the Squash on Fire Open final. The match was a repeat of last years final, where Gilis defeated Orfi in straight games. In a very different game this time around, Orfi ran out to a 2-0 lead before being pegged back by Gilis as the score reached 2-2. Orfi trailed 9-6 in the fifth game but battled back to win five straight points to claim the trophy.

Orfi has now risen two places to No.11 in the World Tour Finals standings and is now less than 700 points away from a top eight spot.

Egypt’s Mazen Hesham produced an amazing run in the HSC Houston Men’s Squash Open as he recorded impressive wins over Mostafa Asal and Mohamed Elshorbagy to claim a place in the final of the latest PSA Gold level event. Hesham set up a repeat of the 2022 final between himself and Ali Farag and was again unable to defeated the World No.1 and had to settle for another Silver medal.

The run has catapulted the ‘Black Falcon’ into the top five in the latest standings, moving up four positions. The Egyptian will be determined to continue this form for the rest of the season to secure a place in the World Tour Finals.
