SmartCentres Kinetic Florida Open 2024 – Day Four: How To Watch Live

12 January 2024

The quarter-finals of the SmartCentres Kinetic Florida Open 2024 are nearly upon us, with 16 players battling it out for their spots in the semi-finals of the first PSA World Tour event of the calendar year.

No.6 seed Joel Makin and No.4 seed Mazen Hesham will begin the day’s play at the Kinetic Indoor Racquet Club Florida, with the pair both looking to claim their first titles of the season. Wales’ Makin edges the head-to-head record by three matches to one, but it is ‘The Black Falcon’ who won their most recent encounter at the 2022 Malaysian Open semi-finals.

After knocking out No.7 seed Nada Abbas and reaching her maiden Gold-event quarter-final, Hong Kong’s Chan Sin Yuk will look to continue treading new ground against USA’s Olivia Weaver. Elsewhere, World No.1 Nour El Sherbini will face Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam for a spot in the last four.

Both Mohamed ElShorbagy and Diego Elias will be celebrating individual milestones today, with ‘The Beast’ set to become the youngest-ever male player to reach 700 matches on the PSA Tour when he takes on France’s Gregoire Marche. Meanwhile, top seed Elias is set to take to the court for the 400th time in his PSA Tour career when squaring off against Egypt’s Tarek Momen.

After marking her comeback from injury with a comfortable victory over Zeina Mickawy, World No.2 Nouran Gohar will look to make it two from two against compatriot and No.8 seed Farida Mohamed. Gohar, who hadn’t taken to the court since the Qatar Classic in September, looked sharp during her straight games victory, managing to get off court after just 27 minutes of action.

The final match of the day looks to be a justified curtain-closer, with Egyptian duo Hania El Hammamy and Amina Orfi squaring off for the first time since their epic 71-minute clash in the third round of the 2022-2023 PSA World Championships last May. On that occasion, El Hammamy managed to prevail 11-9 in the fifth game, but since then, Orfi climbed from just within the world’s top 50 up to a career-high World No.16 this week.

All action on day three of the Florida Open will take place on the glass court and is available to watch live on SQUASHTV
