Kennedy And Gilis To Headline Bahl And Gaynor Cincinnati Cup

The draw has been announced for the 2024 Bahl And Gaynor Cincinnati Gaynor Cup, with World No.6 Georgina Kennedy and World No.8 Tinne Gilis confirmed as the top two seeds for the PSA World Tour Silver event. 

The tournament will take place at the Cincinnati Country Club between January 31 – February 4, with the action available to watch live on SQUASHTV.

England’s Kennedy, who reached the semi-final of the event last year, returns for the 2024 edition as the No.1 seed and will kick off her campaign against one of Canada’s Danielle Ray or Egypt’s Nadine Shahin. The 26-year-old is currently at a career-high World No.6 ranking and is on the hunt for her first title of the season. 

Elsewhere, home favourite and No.3 seed Olivia Weaver will take on either Millie Tomlinson or Mariam Metwally in the last 16, before a potential quarter-final bout against Sivasangari Subramaniam. The Malaysian No.1 has been in a rich vein of form of late, capturing the biggest title of her career at the Hong Kong Football Club Open and climbing up to a career-high ranking of World No.15. 

Belgium’s Gilis will line up as the No.2 seed and will fancy her chances of a run into the latter stages in Cincinnati after an impressive season to date. The 26-year-old is already a two-time runner-upon the PSA Tour this season, having been edged out in the title deciders of the Gold-level Singapore Open and the Silver-level New Zealand Open by older sister and World No.4 Nele.

There are a host of proven winners elsewhere in the chasing pack, with No.7 seed Tesni Evans continuing her return from injury, Sarah-Jane Perry drawn as the No.5 seed, and No.4 seed Rowan Elaraby yet another danger. Potential quarter-final clashes between Gilis and Perry, as well as between Evans and Kennedy are matches to keep an eye out for if the early rounds of the event go to seeding.
