Mazen Hesham Reaches Career-High Ranking In Latest Update

17 October 2023

The always entertaining Mazen Hesham has moved to his highest world ranking to date this week as he overtakes Marwan ElShorbagy to sit at No.6 in the world.

‘The Black Falcon’ has competed in 18 events since last years U.S Open and has reached at least the quarter finals in all of them, therefore is well deserving of his place as World No.6. Hesham found good form at the Qatar Classic, reaching the semi-finals. He then moved to the recent U.S Open and lost out to eventual winner Paul Coll in a five set clash.

The 29-year-old looks to have added a lot more structure and solidity to his game which patterned with his outrageous attacking skills make him a danger for any of the worlds top five. He’ll be looking for more semi-final appearances in Platinum events to chase down the leading pack.

There are also positive movements for compatriots Tarek Momen and Karim Abdel Gawad as they both gain a place in the top 10, overtaking Wales’ Joel Makin.

Aly Abou Eleinen has stormed back inside the top 20 after dropping out last week. The Penn University graduate currently sits at World No.17, his highest to date, after another last 16 appearance at a Platinum event.

Eain Yow Ng and Greg Lobban hang remain inside the top 20 for this week whilst India’s Saurav Ghosal drops outside the top 20 for the first time since November 2017.
