Louisville Open: Romiglio Secures Biggest Title to Date

30 September 2023

Argentina’s Leandro Romiglio claimed his fourth PSA Tour title of 2023, beating the USA’s Faraz Khan 3-1 in the Louisville Open final.

Romiglio had already won three PSA Challenger Tour 10 events since the start of the year, but this represents the biggest win of his career, and the 12th overall.

After a bye through the first round, the No.3 seed has had to do things the hard way, with all three of his matches coming into the final having lasted more than an hour.

The most remarkable of those was in round two, when Romiglio saved four match points at 10-6 down in the third having dropped the opening two games, before staging a phenomenal comeback to down Aly Hussein and progress.

The final was not nearly as dramatic, but the Argentine still had to overturn a one-game deficit after dropping the first 11-9.

He dictated play to level in the second, and took a tight third with an impressive two-wall boast, and from there it was one-way traffic.

Romiglio raced into an early fourth-game lead and didn’t look back, closing out an 11-1 win to claim the trophy, his first in a PSA Challenger Tour 20 event.

Result: Men’s Final

[3] Leandro Romiglio (ARG) bt [4] Faraz Khan (USA) 3-1: 9-11, 11-3, 11-7, 11-1 (64m)
