Challenger Tour Round-Up: Law Sinks Lee in Hong Kong Upset

26 September 2023

Teenager Law Arthur Park Ki secured just his second ever win on the PSA Tour, upsetting Korea’s Hooney Lee in round one of the KCC PSA Challenge Cup 2.

The 18-year-old came through a five-game battle to reach the second round, but his win was not the biggest upset on day one in Hong Kong.

That honour went to wild card Au Lap Man, the World No.835, who – playing in hist first ever Challenger Tour match – knocked out a player ranked almost 500 places above him in Yuta Ando, inside 25 minutes.

His reward is a second-round clash with No.1 seed Matthew Lai, the World No.136. Lai is Hong Kong’s highest-ranked player in the world, and will be hoping to secure his first tour title on home soil this week.

His nearest challenger on paper in second seed Harley Lam, who won the KCC PSA Challenge Cup in this venue in 2021, and begins his quest for more glory against Korea’s Ryu Jeongmin.

A host of withdrawals meant there was only one match taking place on day one of the 3rd Bangabandhu Squash Tournament 2023 Presented by Ispahani, with Md Shohidul Islam beating Md Saimoon Islam.
