Challenger Tour: Weekly Preview

19 September 2023

Five events across four continents feature on the PSA Challenger Tour this week, headlined by tournaments in Ontario and Inverness.

Canada’s World No.19 Hollie Naughton leads the home charge at the Nash Cup, where she enters as the top seed in the women’s draw, while Egypt’s Yahya Elnawasany tops the billing on the men’s side.

Elnawasany will face stiff competition for the title in the form of second seed Nick Wall, who comes into the event on the back of the biggest win of his career, beating compatriot Nathan Lake to claim the Charlottesville Open

The Nash Cup will stream live on the Nash Cup website throughout the week.

Across the Atlantic, Rory Stewart and Georgia Adderley will have home support on their side in the Springfield Scottish Squash Open, which takes place at the Inverness Tennis and Squash Club.

The Scottish pair – who were partners at last year’s World Doubles Championships – are the number one seeds in their respective draws. They will be targeting glory in front of the cameras too, with both the semi-finals and final set to be streamed live on the BBC Sport website and BBC iPlayer

Inverness-born Alasdair Prott is the only other Scot amongst the top eight seeds. The 22-year-old eighth seed has enjoyed a successful year to date, claiming his first PSA title and being crowned Scottish under-23 champion, but he is on a collision course with third seed Ben Coleman if both players win in round two.

Elsewhere, there’s further Challenger Tour action this week from Sao Paulo, Windhoek and the German city of Böblingen, which play host to the I SPAC Open, the BDO Namibian Open and the Schräglage Squash Open respectively.

Among the names to watch out for will be Dutch teenager Rowan Damming – the top seed in Brazil – who is seeking a fifth tour title as he looks to climb the world the rankings.

You can get updates on all the events on the PSA Challenger Tour Facebook and X pages.
