El Hammamy Qualifies for PSA World Tour Finals

18 September 2023

World No.3 Hania El Hammamy is the third player to have qualified for the 2023/24 PSA World Tour Finals following her victory at the QTerminals Qatar Classic last week.

The Egyptian joins World No.1s Ali Farag and Nour El Sherbini on the line-up for the end-of-season event after the duo claimed victories at the Paris Squash 2023 Platinum opener.

The PSA World Tour finals are scheduled to take place in June 2024, with the event including both a men’s and women’s tournament, featuring eight players in each.

The reigning PSA World Champions and all Platinum title winners from the 2023/24 season automatically qualify for the tournament, with any remaining places allocated to the highest-ranked players on the PSA World Tour Finals Leaderboard.

Points are on offer at all PSA World Tour events throughout the 2023/24 season.

El Hammamy, 23, came from a game down to defeat El Sherbini in the final of the Qatar Classic, eventually triumphing in 84 minutes and, in turn, booking her spot at the World Tour Finals.

Paris Squash champion El Sherbini sits top of the women’s leaderboard ahead of El Hammamy, while World No.2 Nouran Gohar sits in third, with America’s Amanda Sobhy and England’s Georgina Kennedy in fourth and fifth position, respectively.

Men’s World No.2 Diego Elias – who lost to Farag in the opening two Platinum finals of the season – will also be eyeing up a spot at the World Tour Finals by claiming victory at the upcoming U.S Open, which begins on October 7th.

In the men’s ranking leaderboard, Tarek Momen sits in third position, while Qatar semi-finalist Joel Makin is in joint fourth spot alongside World No.7 Mazen Hesham and World No.3 Mohamed ElShorbagy.
