Scotland’s Greg Lobban Breaks Top 20 For First Time in Latest PSA Rankings

18 September 2023

Scottish No.1 Greg Lobban has moved inside the world’s top 20 for the first time in his career this week as the new PSA rankings were revealed today. The 31-year-old had achieved a highest ranking of World No.21 in 2020 and 2021 but now sits at No.19 after reaching his first Platinum event quarter final at the Qatar Classic, where he upset No.7 seed Victor Crouin in round three.

Fellow Brit Joel Makin has moved to No.9 in the latest rankings after he reached the semi-finals of the Qatar Classic, eventually losing out to World No.1 Ali Farag in the final four. Egypt’s Mohamed ElSherbini continues to head in the right direction as he jumps up one place yet again, as he now sits at World No.15, a highest for the 31-year-old.

Egyptian duo Mohamed Abouelghar and Youssef Ibrahim are also heading up the rankings after both recovering from injuries. The pair have been able to stay fit so far this season and given their abilities, will no doubt be knocking on the door of the top 20 throughout this season but now sit at No.33 and 34 respectively.
