Sobhy Returns to Top Five in PSA Women’s World Rankings

USA’s Amanda Sobhy has today returned to the top five of the PSA Women’s World Rankings.

Previous Ranking: No.6

30-year-old Amanda Sobhy has broken back into the top five for the first time since June. Her rise comes after Nour El Tayeb’s points for last season’s CIB Zed Open – which she won – expired, meaning she drops to No.6.

Sobhy will be in action tonight at the Paris Squash event in Paris where she will take on Egypt’s Nadine Shahin. Watch their match live on SQUASHTV from 18:00 (GMT+2).

Previous Ranking: No.13

Wales’ Tesni Evans has missed out on the Paris Squash event due to an injury picked up at the British Nationals a fortnight ago but moves up a spot to No.12 this week, which is her highest ranking since last month.

Evans’ rise comes as a result of Salma Hany losing her runner-up points from last year’s CIB Zed Open.

New Ranking: No.17

Previous Ranking: No.18

Already the highest ranked Japanese squash player of all time, Satomi Watanabe has enjoyed a move up to her highest ranking of No.17 this week.

Farida Mohamed, who previously held the No.17 ranking, moves the other way after her points for her semi-final finish at last season’s CIB Zed Open expired.

Previous Ranking: No.53

19-year-old Egyptian Salma Eltayeb moves up to No.52, with USA’s Marina Stefanoni – whose quarter-final points for last year’s CIB Zed Open have expired – dropping six places to No.58.
