Weekend Roundup: Lopez Takes the Honours in Abu Dhabi
There was just one tournament taking place over the weekend as Spain’s World No.103 Edmon Lopez captured his second PSA World Tour title after beating Kuwait’s top seed Ammar Altamimi in straight games in the final of the Union National Bank ISC UNB 5th UAE Open Squash Championship, PSA M5 tournament.
21-year-old Lopez, who hails from Barcelona, came through two five-game matches to reach the final – seeing off Iraqi qualifier Hasanain Dakheel and Pakistan’s Amaad Fareed by 3-2 margins – but it was a more comfortable affair in the final as he claimed an 11-7, 11-9, 11-7 victory in 45 minutes.
