PSNS President’s Trophy: Tournament Preview

The first event of the week on the Challenger Tour will be the PSNS President’s Trophy, which returns for its second edition.

The tournament was first held in 2022, with Malaysian’s Chan Yiwen and Darren Rahul Pragasam being victorious on home soil. This year’s event again features both a men’s and women’s draw, and Pragasam is back to defend his title.

The Malaysian will be the No.3 seed in the men’s draw, and the leading home hope in action. Egypt’s Khaled Labib will lead the way, with compatriot Mohamed Nasser as the No.2 seed. Abdelrahman Abdelkhalek will make it three Egyptians in the top eight seeds for the men’s competition.

Pragasam will be joined in the top eight by four other Malaysians. Wee Ming Hock, Ong Sai Hung, Hafiz Zhafri and Amir Amirul will all be seeded. The likes of Duncan Lee, André Lim and Ameeshenraj Chandaran will also be in action on home soil.

South Korea’s Hoony Lee, Sri Lankan Shamil Wakeel, India’s Ravi Dixit and Singapore’s Brandon Tan Jit Wei make up the rest of the draw, along with Malaysian wildcard Shamiel Haeyzad.

Egypt and Malaysia will also lead the way in the women’s event, with the top four seeds coming from the two nations. Menna Hamed will be the top seed, and she will be joined by compatriot Nour Ramy. Xin Ying Yee and Ooi Kah Yan will be the leading Malaysians on home soil.

Singapore’s Leia Lee Zi Fang joins the Malaysian trio of Sehveetrraa Kumar, Heng Wai Wong and Shasmithaa Nityanandan in making up the rest of the top eight seeds for the women’s competition.

Nour Megahed and Habiba Hani add to the Egyptian cohort in action this week. They will be joined by Welshwoman Chloe Foster, who will be the only European in action, India’s Rathika Suthanthira Seelan, Singapore’s Lim Jee Nee and Japan’s Ayaka Matsuzawa.

The event takes place from Thursday, June 8 to Sunday, June 11 at the Royal Seri Menanti Golf & Country Club in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.
