Manitoba Open SF: Cardenas and Baillargeon Through
The final of the Oasis Pools & Spas Manitoba Open is set, with Mexico’s Leonel Cardenas and Canadian David Baillargeon through to Sunday’s contest.
Cardenas is the top seed for the Challenger 10 level competition, and in the semi-finals, he took on Spaniard Ivan Perez. Despite the Mexican winning in straight games, the pair were on court for almost an hour. Cardenas eventually got the job done 11-8, 11-4, 11-7 in 55 minutes to move through to the final.
He will now take on home favourite David Baillargeon in the final on Sunday. The Canadian No.1 also won in straight games in the last four, but in much easier circumstances. He played England’s Ben Smith, and dropped just nine points in a comfortable 11-4, 11-3, 11-2 victory.
The final of the Oasis Pools & Spas Manitoba Open will take place between David Baillargeon and Leonel Cardenas on Sunday, March 19. You can keep up to date with daily updates from the tournament on the PSA Challenger Tour’s Twitter and Facebook.
