CSC Delaware Open SF: Lee and Ayman Set To Meet In Final

The final of the CSC Delaware Open is set, with Hong Kong’s Ka Yi Lee and Egypt’s Kenzy Ayman, the top two seeds, set to do battle.

Top seed Lee fell behind in her semi-final clash with the unseeded Kaitlyn Watts on Saturday evening. The Kiwi, who had defeated former World No.5 Low Wee Wern to make the last four, took the opening game 11-8.

The Hongkonger, ranked 33 places higher than her semi-final opponent, then started to grow into the contest. She reversed the scoreline in the second game before winning the third more comfortably. Watts tried to push back in the fourth, but Lee was too strong. The World No.44 won in four games to move through to her first final since September 2019.

She will face Egypt’s Kenzy Ayman in the final on Sunday evening in Wilmington. The Egyptian also went to four games in her last four clash, getting the better of No.8 seed Xin Ying Yee of Malaysia.

Ayman, the World No.59 took the first two games to hold a commanding advantage in the tie, but Yee fought back strongly in the third, dropping just four points to cut the deficit to a game. The fourth then went to a tie-break, with both players having opportunities. It was the Egyptian that took it to secure victory to move through to the final.

Lee and Ayman will meet in the final on Sunday, February 26 at the Vicmead Hunt Club in Wilmington, DE, United States. They will be doing battle for the second time on Tour, with the Egyptian having won their only previous meeting. That came at the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions Challenger in May 2022, where Ayman won in five games.
