Hutton Moves Into Top 20 in PSA Women’s World Rankings

20 February 2023

England’s Jasmine Hutton has moved into the top 20 in this week’s PSA Women’s World Rankings following her last 16 finish at the Bahl and Gaynor Cincinnati Gaynor Cup last week.

Here’s our look at the most notable movers of the week, as of Monday February 20.

Jasmine Hutton

New Ranking: No.20

Previous Ranking: No.21

Hutton showed her class in Cincinnati with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Hong Kong’s Ka Yi Lee in the opening round before a narrow 3-2 loss against No.2 seed and World No.7 Rowan Elaraby in the last 16.

While Hutton ultimately suffered defeat against the Egyptian, she showed her undoubted credentials as a player who could trouble the top 10 in the future.

Georgina Kennedy

New Ranking: No.9

Previous Ranking: No.10

Hutton’s compatriot – Georgina Kennedy – has risen a place after reaching the semi-finals in Cincinnati.

Unfortunately, the 25-year-old saw her title challenge come to a premature end, being forced to retire from her match with USA’s Olivia Clyne due to a foot injury.

Olivia Clyne

New Ranking: No.15

Previous Ranking: No.16

Clyne capped off a superb February as she reached her second PSA final of the month at the Cincinnati Gaynor Cup.

Despite being unseeded for the event, Clyne achieved wins over Hana Moataz, the previous year’s runner-up Olivia Fiechter, and Canada’s Hollie Naughton, in addition to her victory over Kennedy. Only World No.1 Nouran Gohar was able to prevent the World No.15 from picking up her eighth PSA trophy.

Melissa Alves

New Ranking: No.21

Previous Ranking: No.22

One step closer to a return to the top 20 for France’s Melissa Alves, who rises a position to No.21 in the rankings.
