Bahl & Gaynor Cincinnati Gaynor Cup: Preview

The Bahl & Gaynor Cincinnati Gaynor Cup returns to the PSA calendar for the sixth instalment next week, taking place from the 12-16 February as 24 players head to the Cincinnati Country Club to try and claim the PSA World Tour Silver event title.

World No.1 Nouran Gohar returns this year for the event as she looks to defend her title from last year. ‘The Terminator’ has already claimed two events this season and has been in fine form throughout the five events she has played. She was unfortunately forced to withdraw in the J.P Morgan Tournament of Champions final against Nour El Sherbini die to illness but will be determined to bounce back and claim another title.

Egyptian compatriot Rowan Elaraby is the No.2 seed for the event after the withdrawal of USA No.1 Amanda Sobhy. Elaraby has staggered in her previous two events, losing out in the last 16 in the Hong Kong Open and Tournament of Champions. The competitive nature of the 22-year-old will no doubt spur her on as she looked to get back to the form she was showing at the start of the season.

England’s Georgina Kennedy seems to have put her health issues behind her as she has enjoyed a terrific start to 2023, winning both the Cleveland Classic and Carol Weymuller Open as well as reaching the quarter finals in New York. She is the No.6 seed for the event and is due to face No.2 seed Elaraby in the quarter finals.
