ElShorbagy Returns To Top Of Latest CIB Road To Egypt Table

14 November 2022

England’s Mohamed ElShorbagy has returned to the top of the CIB Road To Egypt table in the hunt for a place at the CIB PSA World Tour Finals.

The CIB PSA World Tour Finals includes both a men’s and women’s tournament featuring eight players each and brings together all PSA World Tour Platinum title winners. Any remaining places are allocated to the highest ranked players on the CIB Road to Egypt Standings, with points on offer at all PSA World Tour events during the season.

The England No.1, who was already guaranteed his place in Egypt after winning the Platinum-level QTerminals Qatar Classic at the beginning of the season has returned to the top of the rankings following his Silver-level Robertson Lodges New Zealand Open title.

The 31-year-old now has 6,710 points. This moves him ahead of Peru’s Diego Elias in second, who qualified for the World Tour Finals with a victory at the U.S. Open.

World No.1 Ali Farag, who is still recuperating from an injury sustained at the U.S. Open, is the only other player to have already qualified, courtesy of his CIB Egyptian Open win.

Nouran Gohar (right) and Hania El Hammamy (left) are the only players to have already qualified for the women’s World Tour Finals.

There’s no change in the top five of the women’s Road To Egypt standings, with New Zealand’s Joelle King moving up to sixth in the race.

King, 34, won her first title of the season last week as she lifted the Silver-level Barfoot & Thompson New Zealand Open trophy.

Her opponent in the final in Tauranga, Wales’ Tesni Evans, moves up to seventh as she looks to qualify for the CIB PSA World Tour Finals for the first time since 2019.

Egyptian duo Nouran Gohar and Hania El Hammamy remain the only two players to have already qualified, thanks to their respective titles at the U.S. Open and CIB Egyptian Open.
