Rehman Celebrates In Shiraz

4 October 2016

Austrian Aqeel Rehman notched up the seventh title of his PSA World Tour career as he downed Kuwaiti Ammar Altamimi to take the 2016 Shiraz Open, the PSA M5 tournament that came to a close in Iran at the weekend.

Rehman, the 31-year-old from Salzburg, was in sublime form the off and came through in straight games to see off second seeded Altamimi and extend his recent run of good form that has see him collect three titles from his last four outings – with a semi-final finish at the Insel Bruggen Open the only recent blemish on his record.

Altamimi had secured his place in the title-decider after ending the run of surprise semi-finalist Navid Maleksabet, the Iranian local player ranked World No.357 who had taken out number six seed Chris Lo and number four seed Tsz Kwan Lau to reach the last four stage.
