Bangabandhu SF: Laksiri and Ibrahim Cause Semi-Final Upsets

Sri Lanka’s Ravindu Laksiri and Egypt’s Ziad Ibrahim will contest the final of the 2nd Bangabandhu Squash Tournament Presented by Ishaphani Ltd after taking down higher-seeded players in the last four.

Ibrahim, the No.3 seed for the event, took on top seed and Kuwaiti No.1 Ammar Altamimi. The Egyptian lost the first game 11-2, but fought back magnificently to win the next three games and secure victory in under half an hour. He dropped jut nine points over the last two games, to advance to only his second Tour final.

He will face Ravindu Laksiri in the last match of the event, after the Sri Lankan No.1 defeated Malaysia’s Amir Amirul. Laksiri, who is currently at his highest ever ranking of World No.281, won in straight games in just 29 minutes against the Malaysian to advance to his first final on Tour.

The final of the 2nd Bangabandhu Squash Tournament Presented by Ishaphani Ltd will take place on Sunday, October 9, with either Ziad Ibrahim or Ravindu Laksiri taking home the title from Dhaka.
