Women’s World No.5 Nouran Gohar and Men’s World No.193 Saadeldin Abouaish will headline a seven-strong Egyptian contingent across the quarter-final stages of both the Women’s and Men’s World Junior Individual Championships taking place in Bielsko-Biala, Poland.

Defending champion Gohar is the firm favourite for the Women’s crown and she continued her title ambitions with a comfortable victory against 18-year-old compatriot Zeina Mickawy, wrapping up the win by an 11-6, 11-5, 11-3 margin.

Gohar is set to face New Zealand’s Eleanor Epke in the last eight after Epke came out on top against Malaysia’s Zoe Foo Yuk Han.

Second seeded Egyptian Hania El Hammamy joins Gohar and Epke in the quarter-final thanks to a routine triumph over Hiu Lam Lui and she will take on England’s Amelia Henley, who dispatched Belgium’s Tinne Gilis, for a place in the semi-final.

Rowan Areda Araby and Amina Yousry were the other triumphant Egyptians on the third day of action after they defeated United States duo Maria Stefanoni and Casey Wong, respectively.

Araby will lock horns with Andrea Lee in the next round, while Yousry will pit her wits against Sivasangari Subramaniam.

Elsewhere, the Men’s event saw Abouaish twice recover from a game down to defeat the tenacious World No.316 Sajad Zareian 7-11, 11-5, 7-11, 11-7, 11-7.

The number one seed’s reward is a quarter-final clash with French Junior Open champion Benjamin Aubert after the 18-year-old dispatched Adithya Raghavan by a 3-0 scoreline.

Youssef Ibrahim Abdallah and Marwan Tarek Abdelhamid complete the Egyptian line-up in the last eight after they achieved respective victories over Victor Crouin and Mohammad Al-Sarraj.

Japan’s Ryunosuke Tsukue lies in wait for Abdallah in the next round, while Pakistan’s Israr Ahmed will take on Abdelhamid. Eain Yow Ng and Velevan Senthilkumar will contest the other quarter-final fixture, progressing past Tom Walsh and Kashif Asif, respectively.
