India’s World No.102 Kush Kumar came up with a superb comeback to recover from two games down against number four seed Reiko Peter in the quarter-final of the Victorian Open, PSA M10 tournament.

Kumar looked down and out after a strong start from Peter saw the Swiss World No.80 fall two games behind, but the 20-year-old steadied the ship magnificently before launching an all assault on his opponent, eventually taking it 10-12, 5-11, 11-3, 11-4, 11-6 to reach his first PSA World Tour semi-final for 12 months.

Home hope Rex Hedrick lies in wait for Kumar after overturning a 1-0 deficit to defeat Welshman Joel Makin in the last eight.

Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu could be reunited with Kumar in an all-Indian final thanks to his victory over New Zealand’s Williams.

Like Hedrick before him, Sandhu went a game down but battled back to take the next three games without reply, setting up a semi-final clash with top seed Joe Lee, who saw off Arthur Gaskin in straight games after opening the match up with an 11-0 win in game one.
