Former Women’s World No.3 Madeline Perry has been announced as the new Head Professional at the East Coast Squash Academy as she looks to impart the wisdom that she picked up over a glittering 17-year professional career.

The most successful squash player in Ireland’s history, Perry claimed 13 PSA World Tour titles – winning her final ever PSA World Tour event at last year’s GillenMarkets Irish Squash Open – and held the distinction of being ranked as one of the top 10 players in the world for over 10 consecutive years. Away from the PSA World Tour, Perry also took part in five Commonwealth Games and claimed a record 15 Irish Nationals titles before retiring mid-way through last year.

The 38-year-old will be responsible for managing and coaching a variety of programs at both Willoughby Squash Club and Bondi Waverley Squash Club in her new role at the East Coast Squash Academy.

“I am really excited to be joining the East Coast Squash Academy’s coaching team,” said Perry.

“Having recently retired from the PSA World Tour, coaching will be a new and exciting challenge for me. Australia has always been a big influence within the squash world and it will be great to be a part of it.”

The East Coast Squash Academy aims to consistently provide professional, world-class squash coaching, whilst also offering job opportunities for top players coming off the PSA World Tour.

Director of the East Coast Squash Academy, Aaron Frankcomb, said: “We are proud to offer coaching roles to retiring world class players, encouraging them to settle in Australia to strengthen the game of squash here.

“This opportunity places Sydney and Australia in a great position to increase the standard and exposure to our junior, elite and professional players who are training to one day go on the professional playing circuit. We also hope this will continue to increase female participation within the sport.”
