Leading PSA stars to compete in Men’s World Team Championship

24 November 2015

The 25th WSF Men’s World Squash Team Championship kick off in Cairo, Egypt on December 12 with the world’s top players all wanting to win silverware for their national team.

The diverse tournament field sees 15 of the world’s top 20 ranked players competing alongside a large number of unknown professionals from smaller squash federations such as Iraq and Qatar.

Reigning champions England have once again selected a strong line-up headed by 3-time World Champion Nick Matthew (pictured), who is accompanied by Daryl Selby, Chris Simpson and James Willstrop. However, 2011 winners and host-nation Egypt will be strong favourites, displaying a fearsome line-up comprising of Mohamed Elshorbagy, Ramy Ashour, Omar Mosaad and Tarek Momen, all of who are ranked in the world’s top 20.

Other potential challengers for the title include France, who are fortunate enough to have newly-crowned World Champion Gregory Gaultier and World No.8 Mathieu Castagnet in their ranks.

This year’s line-up also includes eight-time winners Australia and six-time champions Pakistan who both have an esteemed history at the event.

But Kuwait – who were originally to host the event – have withdrawn following the suspension of their National Olympic Committee by the IOC as the opportunity to compete under the WSF flag was declined.

The seedings for the Championship will be released on November 30.
