Tsz-Wing Takes Out Top Seed Craig in Women’s Queensland Open

Hong Kong’s Tong Tsz-Wing came out on top in a spectacular five-game affair against number one seed Megan Craig to reach the semi-final of the Queensland Open, PSA W5 event.

The first game was an incredibly tight one with neither player giving the other an inch as they traded a number of high-octane blows throughout an electric start to the match. Tsz-Wing eventually went ahead but a devastating performance from Craig in the second levelled proceedings.

Two more enthralling games took place with both players taking one apiece before Tsz-Wing managed to edge the fifth, taking a hard-fought 12-10, 3-11, 12-10, 10-12, 11-9 triumph to move into the last four.

She will line up against the experienced Lisa Camilleri in the semi-final after she blitzed past Samantha Calvert with 3-0 victory.

Second seed Sarah Cardwell defeated Melissa Martin in her quarter-final tie and she will meet Cheyna Tucker for a place in the final after the South African recovered from a 2-1 deficit to defeat wildcard Samantha Foyle.
