Alexander Arrows into Queensland Open Quarters

Top seed Zac Alexander kept his hopes of claiming a third consecutive PSA World Tour title alive with a straightforward win over Jeremy Barnes in the second round of the Queensland Open, PSA M5 tournament.

The 26-year-old Australian cruised to an 11-3, 11-6, 11-1 over his unseeded opponent after dominating the encounter with some quick drops and punishing drives.

He will face Solayman Nowrozi, who beat Ben Courtice in three, in the quarter-final as he looks to continue his rich vein of form.

The man Alexander beat in last week’s Mackay Open final, Joshua Larkin, also progressed after easing by fellow Australian Craig Rowland and will face Thomas Calvert in the next round with his win over Jesse Keegan.

Adam Murrills sealed his quarter-final berth with a straight games victory over Courtney West and his opponent in the last eight will be Mithran Selvaratnam who dispatched Ireland’s Stuart Hadden.

Rhys Dowling and Vivian Rhamanan will contest the other quarter-final fixture after they produced victories over Alex Eustace and Waseem Gul, respectively.
