Selby Spearheads Trio Of Changes To PSA Board

English World No.16 Daryl Selby is one of a trio of new faces elected onto the PSA Board of Directors as officially confirmed during the association’s AGM held in Doha, Qatar on October 30.

The 32-year-old is joined on the nine-strong board by J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions Director John Nimick who brings with him a wealth of experience garnered from a lifetime of involvement within the sport that has encompassed time as a player, administrator and tournament promoter.

Also joining for the first time is Shabana Khan, the former Women’s World No.23 who is staging the 2015 World Championship in Bellevue, Washington, later this month in what will be the tournament’s first ever appearance in the United States.

They join existing board members Ziad Al-Turki, Ashley Bernhard, Jonathan Kemp and Mohab Khattab while former Men’s World No.1 James Willstrop and former Women’s World No.2 Jenny Duncalf have been re-elected to their positions of Men’s and Women’s president, respectively.

“On behalf of the PSA I’d like to welcome Daryl, John and Shabana onto the Board of Directors and look forward to working closely with them and the entire board as we look to continue the impressive strides that the sport has made in recent years,” said PSA Chairman Al-Turki.

“Their experience, combined with that of our existing members, offers us a wealth of knowledge across a vast array of fields and sectors and coincides with one of the most important periods in the history of the association.

“I”d also like to thank our outgoing members Chris Hornbuckle, Marjolein Houtsma and Renan Levigne for their dedicated input and time during their tenures with the association.”

PSA Board of Directors:

Chairman: Ziad Al-Turki
Ziad Al-Turki was elected Chariman of the PSA in 2008 and, under his stewardship, the organisation has seen exponential growth.

A Saudi-Arabian businessman with a wealth of experience, Al-Turki has helped elevate the sport to new heights and the sport looks set for further growth with Al-Turki at the helm.

Deputy Chairman: Ashley Bernhard
Ashley Bernhard has had a long association with squash at many levels and has a strong background in marketing & PR, in addition to chairing the prestigious Carol Weymuller Open for eight years.

Bernhard pioneered the Tournament of Champions Women’s Squash Leadership Programme and has long been an advocate for the growth of tournament prize money at PSA World Tour events.

Women’s President: Jenny Duncalf
Jenny Duncalf has amassed a number of titles since she first joined the tour in 1999 and is one of the most recognisable faces in the Women’s game.

A former World No.2, Duncalf has also reached the World Championship final in 2011 and claimed a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Men’s President: James Willstrop
James Willstrop is one of the most technically proficient Englishmen of recent times and was ranked number one in the world during 2012.

The Yorkshireman appeared in the 2010 World Championship final and has won 18 PSA World Tour titles in a distinguished career.

Board Members:

Jonathan Kemp
Former World No.20 Jonathan Kemp has been a member of the PSA board for the last four years and also serves as a coach at the prestigious Aspire Academy in Qatar.

Shropshire-born Kemp has been at the forefront of many of the changes to the structure and running of the PSA World Tour in recent years.

Shabana Khan
Shabana Khan is an experienced member of the PSA World Tour and has played professionally for over 12 years.

Khan has been involved in the grassroots growth of the game, which includes coaching players of all levels, and her company, YSK Events, are promoting the 2015 World Championship in Seattle.

Mohab Khattab
Mohab Khattab joined the PSA Board of Directors in January 2015 and has provided legal and business support for the amalgamation of the Men’s and Women’s Tours.

Having been an attorney for 19 years, Khattab also has a significant amount of experience in business, including finance and investments and start-up companies.

John Nimick
John Nimick has strong expertise in squash, sports and entertainment marketing having forged a successful playing career during the 1980s.

Nimick serves as a PSA Executive Director between 1994-1999 and has contributed to more than 40 PSA World Tour events over the last 20 years, including PSA World Series tournaments such as the Tournament of Champions and US Open.

Daryl Selby
Current England No.3 Daryl Selby has been one of his country’s leading players for the best part of a 12-year career and joins the PSA with the goal of helping his fellow players to bring their point of view and ideas to the table.

The 11-time PSA World Tour will supplement his duties as Director with the continuation of his fine career on the PSA World Tour
