London into Charing Cross Classic Main Draw

England’s Steven London saw off number two qualifying seed Micah Franklin to move past the final qualifying round of the LOC Charing Cross Classic and reach the main draw stage.

The World No.216, who will be bidding to make it out of the opening round of a PSA World Tour main draw event for the first time this year, beat the Bermudan in an 8-11, 14-12, 11-8, 11-6 victory to secure his main draw berth.

London has the distinction of going up against top seed James Earles in the next round has he begins his defence of the title he won last year.

Promising youngster Patrick Rooney has also advanced into the next round after he defeated South Africa’s Tristan Eysele in straight games. His reward is a tasty encounter with fellow Englishman Michael Harris in the opening round of the main draw.

Elsewhere, Chris Hall dispatched Nick Mulvey in three to set up a main draw matchup with Benjamin Fischer who bowed out in the first round last year.

Jamie Henderson and Miroslav Celler faced off in the other final qualifying round clash with the former prevailing in four to ensure that he progresses to face Lyell Fuller in round one.
