Camacho Climbs Past Reid in Kiva Club Open

Mexico’s Jesus Camacho produced a scintillating performance to down Fred Reid in straight games in the opening round of the Kiva Club Open, PSA M5 event.

The World No.202, who reached the final of the British Virgin Islands Open Squash Championship three months ago, showed plenty of agility to work his opponent around the court and open up opportunities for himself. 17-year-old Camacho surged to an 11-4, 11-5, 11-9 victory to secure his place in the quarter-final.

Auguste Dussourd lies in wait for Camacho in the last eight after the Frenchman stormed to victory against Sam Gould in the first round.

Another Mexican, Juan Gomez Dominguez, continued his fine form throughout qualifying to upset number three seed Babatunde Ajagbe. Veracruz-born Dominguez went two games to the good before Ajagbe fought off tiredness to emerge victorious from the third game. Dominguez powered on though to complete the victory and reach the quarter-final where the 19-year-old will line up against fellow qualifier Ahmad Alzabidi who came through a thrilling five game encounter with Diego Gobbi.

Lucky Loser Italo Bonatti defeated Jon Geekie 3-2 and has the distinction of facing number one seed Chris Hanson in the next round with the World No.85 besting Mark Broekman in his first round fixture.

Faraz Khan is also through after his victory over Mauricio Sedano and he will face Anthony Graham after the number six seed saw off Dylan Cunningham.
