Kyle Finch continued his astonishing progress in the Belfast Open, PSA M5 event after seeing off sixth seed Jean-Pierre Brits with a 3-0 victory in the pair’s quarter-final clash.

The 16-year-old, who stunned Hugo Varela in the previous round, maintained a fast-paced style of squash to put his opponent on the back foot from the off despite Brits’ attempts to dictate the tempo of the match.

Finch kept up the attacking squash to power through to an 11-5, 11-3, 11-8 victory and move into the semi-final stage at his first ever PSA World Tour event.

Southampton-born Finch will go up against Angus Gillams in the last four after the number two seed defeated fellow Englishman Nick Mulvey in straight games. The World No.101 controlled the match and romped to an 11-3, 11-8, 11-2, triumph.

Joel Hinds and Edmon Lopez Moller will make up the other semi-final showdown after respective wins over Patrick Rooney and Phil Nightingale with the victors prevailing 3-0 both times.
