World No.122 Michael McCue dispatched top seed Chris Hanson in the quarter-final of the Colony Ford Lincoln NSA Open, PSA M5 event with a spectacular 3-0 victory to move through to the semi-final stage of a PSA World Tour event for the first time in over a year.

The 22-year-old, who is the only Canadian left in the tournament, looked to be heading out of the event after Hanson took a one game lead after a relatively comfortable start to the match for the United States-based player.

However, McCue battled back with a vengeance to turn the match on its head and rise to a 7-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-4 victory to ensure that he goes through to face Shahjahan Khan in the semi-final after the Pakistani number four seed defeated Babatunde Ajagbe with a 3-1 scoreline.

Arthur Gaskin remains on course to play to his seeding after a commanding win against Joe Chapman. The Irishman only dropped a handful of points throughout the encounter and becomes the new tournament favourite after Hanson’s elimination.

Surprise package Jesus Camacho will be his opponent in the next round after the Mexican qualifier swept past David Baillargeon in straight games. World No.228 Camacho, who shocked third seed Dane Sharp in the opening round, stormed through to an 11-9, 11-7, 11-3 triumph to reach the last four.
