Carmen Lee romped to victory against number three seed Rachel Arnold in the quarter-final of the Malaysian Tour Squash VI, PSA W5 tournament to ensure that she will compete in her first semi-final since 2012.

The 23-year-old from Hong Kong came flying out of the traps as she looked to build up some early momentum with her court-craft in particular proving to be her opponent’s undoing.

Lee pressed on to record an unassailable 11-7, 11-8, 11-9 win to go through to the next round.

Number one seed Liu Tsz-Ling lies in wait after she downed seventh seed Sivasangari Subramaniam. Hong Kong’s Tsz-Ling shot into a two game lead before Subramaniam bounced back to grab a game back. The World No.47 held her nerve to navigate a tight fourth game and advance to the semi-final.

Vanessa Raj and Zulhijjah Binti Azan will meet in the event’s other semi-final tie after the duo defeated Zoe Foo Yuk Han and Teh Min Jie, respectively, with the latter match in particular going the distance with a particularly close 18-16 score in the second game catching the eye and delighting the gathered spectators.
