Izwan in to Malaysian Tour Main Draw

Mohd Farez Izwan came up with a magnificent comeback in the final qualifying round of the Malaysian Tour Squash VI, PSA M5 event to eliminate Ong Sai Hung and move into the main draw.

The 17-year-old looked like he was up against it after going two games down to a rampant Hung but a ferocious fightback saw the Sabah-born World No.336 wrestle back control of the match to battle to an 11-13, 7-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-6 victory.

He faces a difficult fixture against number one seed Muhd Asyraf Azan in the opening round of the main draw with his experienced compatriot sure to be the heavy favourite for the encounter.

Top qualifying seed Ranvijay Singh also progressed through to the main draw action but was made to fight for it by Ampandi Muhammad Aqif. The duo had a tightly-contested match with very little in it but it was World No.291 Singh who engineered enough breathing space for himself to emerge victorious and set up a next round clash with Cheuk Yan Tang.

Syed Ali Mujtaba Shah Bokhari’s win over Ryan Pasqual sees him through to the main draw where he will face off against number four seed Sanjay Singh Chal who has already reached a Malaysian Tour final three months ago.

Tsun Hei Yuen is also set to compete in the next round after victory over Mivesh Kumar and meets James Huang for a place in the quarter-final.
