Kush Kumar lifted his maiden PSA World Tour title after a superb 3-0 victory over Jaymie Haycocks in the final of the City of Devenport Tasmanian Open, PSA M5 tournament.

19-year-old Kumar, who was appearing in his first ever PSA World Tour final, overcame Sean Conroy in the previous round while Haycocks battled through a difficult semi-final tie with Chris van der Salm.

Kumar began the match in the ascendancy, taking advantage of Haycocks’ tired legs after the previous day’s exploits and stormed into an early lead.

The second game was an equally one-sided affair with Haycocks’ semi-final exploits looming large over the Englishman as he struggled to cope with Kumar’s speed around court as the Indian doubled his lead.

Haycocks came back strongly in the third and the game went all the way to the wire with Kumar just edging out the encounter to secure an 11-4, 11-5, 13-11 victory.
